7 - USEFUL UTILITIES

• Miner Stats (Bitcoin Gadget Sidebar) – DOWNLOAD LINK

Minter Stats is a very handy gadget for your desktop. It supports several pools and gives you Bitcoin information, like BTC-to-$ rates, status of your workers, mining speed (Hash rate), etc.
To configure the gadget to display your pool account info, go to the deepbit website, go to “My account”, log in if you aren’t already and click ”Advanced…”.

Among the settings you’ll find “API token” and a bold code next to it.

Copy that code, which is exactly what you have to insert into the gadget to display your info.
Open the gadget and place the mouse over it.
A little tab will appear, click the tool to open the settings.

Paste your API in the empty box and then click “OK”.

• Sapphire Trixx – DOWNLOAD LINK

Just for AMD (ATI) cards (works with all manufacturers: XFX, Sapphire, Asus, MSI, Powercolor, etc.). Tool for overclocking (force your GPU to work faster to get better speed) and monitoring temperatures, fan speed, voltages of your graphics cards. It supports overvolting: increasing GPU/memory voltage to make them more stable at higher frequencies. It comes with a sidebar gadget.

If you build a computer just for mining, you’d better lower the memory clock to 300MHz or the lowest frequency possible; mining uses mostly the graphics card processor, not the graphics card memory. This will help you lower the card’s temperature a bit as well as the power consumption. You might also want to adjust the video card’s fan speed: at higher speeds, it can get a bit noisy.
Sometimes Sapphire Trixx does not work for more than one card. If this is your case, you can try MSI Afterburner.

• MSI Afterburner – DOWNLOAD LINK

Just for AMD (ATI) cards (works with all manufacturers: XFX, Sapphire, Asus, MSI, Powercolor, etc.). Tool for overclocking (force your GPU to work faster to get better speed) and monitoring temperatures, fan speed, voltages of your graphics cards. It supports overvolting: increasing GPU/memory voltage to make them more stable at higher frequencies.

MSI Afterburner needs to be unlocked to change the GPU settings without any limits.
This can easily be done changing the configuration. Open “C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI Afterburner\MSIAfterburner.cfg” with the notepad. Scroll down to the end of the file.

Those 3 lines below [ATIDLHAL] should look like these:
UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode = 1
